Death, Films & Tennis

The xbox360 broke Friday night. I beleive they call it the ring of death. Because it basically means the xbox has fried. But through the despair and worry, we went online and booked it in to get fixed, not really knowing how we'd find the money to get it done, we learnt that because this is a known problem with the xbox360 console, and because we've had it less than three years (not even a year yet actually!), we can get it fixed for free. Which is a big relief. Ray packaged it up and today the man from UPS came to collect it. The only good thing we can take from it is it does mean we've dug out the old xbox console and are now playing the original Lego Star Wars game. Ray is very upset, though. He loves his xbox360. I've spent most of the weekend keeping his hands busy elsewhere...

I went to see the new Narnia film Saturday afternoon with Mammy and Jemma. Such a good film. I highly reccomend it. It's darker and yet funnier than the first one. Jem is suicidal, though, cos Peter has said he won't be returning to Narnia again. We're meant to be seeing Hancock this weekend, which looks so funny. I'm really starting to get used to these girlie afternoons we spend in the cinema. I'm going to be sad if they stop.

At the moment I'm listening/watching live wimbledon because I don't want to miss my favourite player: Lleyton Hewitt. Typically he's up against Federrer, which means this will probably be the last game I see him play this tournament. I'm trying to write Olimpia Valley at the same time but something tells me I'm going to get distracted by a cute Australian in white shorts.

Rugby, Presents and Films

Wales lost to Australia on Saturday. The second-half was good - not quite so much shouting at the TV. But Stephen Jones needs to go!

Ray bought himself an xbox 360, after much debate - him saying maybe, us saying do it! He doesn't spend heaps on himself often - pre-me he didn't spend any money on himself - so he needs persuassion. He's got a couple of boy-games to play, but also got me Lego Star Wars II cos he knows how much I love it, aww. I'm sticking with the xbox for now to finish off my Halo 2 campaign. You lose all your old games when you move to xbox 360, you see. I'm in the middle of completeing Halo 2 on Legendary so I'm not moving anywhere 'til it's done!

Sweepie also has some presents - a new Nyla bone cos I lost her other one. And her father also got her a dino-baby toy. She keeps trying to blind the dino-baby but seems to be falling in love with it. Martha destroyed her new toy within twenty-four hours and left the remains all over the bedroom floor.

New films I watched this weekend were: Lady in the Water - nice film, I don't understand why everyone hated it so much cos it was, you know, just nice. None of us could work out how it had been made into a big blockbuster film when it would have worked much better as an indie-flick, and even better than that just as a book. Superman Returns - we tried with that one but the beginning was all over the place. We gave up soon after Clarke met Lois's X-Men husband. I'm sure I'll try it again later in the week. The Queen, which was very, very good; it made me laugh a lot. And a film that didn't villainise Tony Blair! We ended the weekend with The Two Towers. Sure, I've seen it heaps of times before but Ray hasn't seen the un-edited versions so it's an excuse to watch them all again :)

Ray bought me a pretty new top, which is like the orange one I got before but a purple and pink colour instead. I told him not to buy me anything, we had a mini-argument in the middle of the shop, where I told him off for buying me things and making me feel uncomfortable, and he told me off for being so weird about money and accepting gifts from him. The top was pretty and he has a pretty face, so I relented. It's weird: if I have money I don't mind him buying me stuff. But if I don't have much money (like now) I get weird when he gets me stuff. I'm just a weirdo when it comes to money.

Time to get back to dog-walking again then...

Plants & Comments

I've had an issue with Haloscan. They deleted all my comments. Apparently you can log in and get the archives restored but considering the site is bouncing on and off, and everyone on the forum is saying their comments still haven't been restored after a month, I thought it was time to ditch them. So I'm now using Blogger's comments. Does mean all my old comments have gone but that's not the end of the world. Hopefully Blogger will keep hold of all my comments for me now.

My plants are growingwell. Strangely, one of the tomatoe's is growing really well but the other five pots are empty. Same with the cucumbers (only there's only three other pots not five). All the peas seem to be doing well, though. No sign of the peppers yet. I'm starting to worry for them.

Those pictures were taken yesterday and they've grown even more just overnight. I'm very excited by it all.

I'm onto Episode 2 of Lego Star Wars now. And it's much more complicated than the first episode. I'm not sure this game was made for children, you know ;) I can't be Qui Gonn anymore cos, obviously, he's dead. I'm either a red droid now or Queen Amidala. I'm killer with a gun! I'm seriously getting hooked.

Let's see if these comments work now...

You Have Bird Flu Now!

I've had a really nice weekend. It was one of those times where you wake up at some stupid ungodly hour of the morning and feel thoroughly depressed cos it's all over.

I got to move Ray in for the weekend. I haven't been able to keep him with me all night since New Years (one of the curses of sharing a room with your sister). But this weekend I asked if she minded him staying for the Friday night - she didn't. Saturday we spent all morning in bed making plans about moving out and having our own space. I don't think we got up 'til two. In the evening we headed down the pub to see how the boys had got on. That was okay for the first few hours but when the junkies moved in we moved out. I got a snooty reception from some of the committee men after me handing in my resignation with the website but strangely I didn't care. Usually I can't stand it if someone is giving me the cold shoulder and I feel really stupidly paranoid about it but this time I just didn't care. Maybe cos this time I know I'm in the right - and my principles mean more to me than some website.

That night Ray stayed again. That wasn't the original plan but Jem was in a good mood and so she agreed. See, sometimes she's nice ;) Hehehe. The next day we headed over to the pub to watch the Wales V Ireland match. I thought the game was a bit pants and Czekaj kept getting slagged off - I like him so... We lost in the end, which I don't think any one was surprised by.

Monday I returned a second phone call from a couple who wanted me to dog-sit for them. I'd given them only two weekends I couldn't work in March so what did they go and do? Book up a holiday for one of the weekends I'm away! When I told them I couldn't do that weekend I was made to feel like I'd misled them in some way. I know I'd been clear with the dates cos both weekends have been out of bounds for me for ages. Grr why can't people listen?

I played Halo 2 all afternoon. I'm a proper X-box junkie now and am proud of it. Halo 2 is nowhere near as good as 1 but I'm working my way up the levels. I'm on Normal at the moment. I'm sure there'll be a super nerdy Halo/Masterchief post before long ;)

I asked Ray if he'd like to run away last night so I wouldn't have to do the dog-sitting job. He said I shouldn't tempt him. Sometimes I wish we could just run away. Life just seems so stagnant here at the moment. I can't get anything going no matter how hard I try. It's been a funny start to a year.

This morning I woke early - 7:10 instead of 8. So I got up and showered and finished packing my bag. I was meant to catch the 9:40am bus, which I did. I had to sit on the funny side-seats which meant I was nearly falling off the seat the whole way there. There were some men up the back of the bus who were discussing bird flu, which must mean I now have it. So if you're reading this you've probably caught it, too. I mean, you know how pesky bird flu is - cats have it and everything! Quick destroy all the animals! It's Bernard Matthews's fault. He hates birds. He brought it over from Hungry. I reckon he wants to go out of business. Hehehe. You have to love the hysteria, haven't you? The bird flu epidemic.

Anyway, bird flu was the only thing I caught today. Cos the second bus I was meant to catch went without me! I was standing in the bus stand where it clearly says it's meant to stop - and I was there ten minutes before it arrived. I saw the bus sitting opposite. I stupidly thought it would come to its marked stand when it was time to leave but instead it just sailed right by me! There was a man next to me who wanted to catch the bus as well. He gave up and wandered back into town. I had to get here to my dog-sitting job. So I had to ring Roger and he came to pick me up. What a bloody start to the day!

This afternoon's been relatively quiet. I've finally been able to read my letter from Sarah (I love you too :D) and catch up on the melodrama that is House of Carters - call me weak but the way Nick looks at Aaron just about breaks my heart; I mean, they're clearly all insane but that brotherly love is so squee. I'm about to go and catch up on the Craig and John-Paul love on Hollyoaks. That's the good thing about dog-sitting here: you get to watch oodles of TV without anyone else hogging the remote. Now if only I could get Masterchief here as well I'd be set...

Sweepie the Super Model

Sweepie did an impromptu photo-shoot yesterday morning:

Too cute for words, isn't she?

I've also done my back in. I'm not sure how. It hurts when I cough. Actually it pretty much hurts most of the time now. So I either pulled it coughing (which is very possible considering how much coughing's gone on lately), playing x-box (well, you never know, do you?) or lifting Sweepie or her big brother. It bloody hurts either way. I'm going to wait 'til I get back from my pet-sitting job next week; if it's still bad then I'll go to the doctors, I guess. Is that what you do with a bad back?

Happy New Year?

How the hell is it a new year already? I didn't get the Chrismassy vibe, and it certainly didn't feel like I was ringing in a new year. It was a weird festive period this year. I enjoyed, though, it was just enjoyment in a different way to normal.

I have the usual new-year-illness now. Tonsillitis. Bleurgh. I've had a cold-ish thing for the past week and then this morning I woke up to find my left tonsil huge and veiny in the back of my throat. Mmm, nice. Never mind. It's not like I don't know how to handle tonsillitis, is it? It's like my specialist sport in illnesses really.

I'm still not back to my usual routine. The writing won't happen for me yet (probably cos I'm ill), I'm barely online. I haven't updated any of the sites in ages. I'm in a lame-ass mood at the moment. Blame the tonsil. Ray's brought round the xbox so I've become newly obsessed with Halo. I tried driving a car in it yesterday and spent about half an hour in floods of tears cos it was just too funny how bad I was at it!

I've given up trying to customise a Live Journal layout. I tried and failed. Hehehe. So I've gone for this look now. So expect more updates there once I get myself back into routine.

I'm just feeling so sluggish at the moment. It doesn't help that Daddy's started a new job and isn't feeling very confident in it so keeps picking fights with me. We're barely talking at the moment and I hate bad feeling like that. I've spent the last week either hiding at Ray's house or else going out for food, taking Sweepie to meet the in-laws and, of course, playing the xbox.

Never mind. Once the tonsil shrinks back to size I can get writing again and all will be normal again.

Hope everyone else's new year has started better than mine has! (Don't worry, although I haven't been commenting I have been keeping up to date on everyone's blogs/journals :) )
