The tourists. The very strong winds. The sea-gulls. I can't say the first two have any good points but I've found the latter does. Not only does it squawk early in the morning, poo on your windows and washing, try and steal food from you... it also, through its plentiful poo, spread seeds.
A seagull pooed a magic bean into our crappy paved front garden. Somehow that bean went down beneath the slabs and about a month later we found this beauty outside our front door...

A sunflower! How lucky are we to have accidentally had a sunflower grow in our garden? It's growing larger and larger by the day. It now stands even taller than me - and I am the tallest of the three of us when in my two-inch heels ;) People walk by and stop and point. Often we look out the window and see random people just standing outside our house discussing the sunflower. One of these days I'm going to erect a sign that says Borne from seagull poo. And when it's dark and the shadow of the plant plays across the window it can often look like the creepy plant from Little Shop of Horrors (Jem, don't click that link: it's scary :/). But we love our sunflower, our magic bean, and hope that one day it will grow all the way up to the sky, to the giant's land that lives up there. Isn't that when we're meant to get rich? I don't remember the magic bean story very well ;)
