As a last-minute night out idea, I went to the midnight showing of The Transformers on Friday. And it was so very, very good.
I'm very into my special effects - they have to be done correctly. This film just had it nailed! I think I squeezed the blood out of Ray's hand during every fight scene. I like pretty things and pretty things that go bang! are even more exciting.
It was a great story, as well as all the pretty Transformers. I love, love, love the films made for nerds. Where there is a very pretty girl and very geeky guy and you know from the first scene that the nerdy guy is going to somehow win over the pretty popular girl. Always makes me smile :)
And the nerd was a bit of a honey himself. I think he's the new "it" boy of the moment. Shia LaBeouf. That's one pretty name. I was sure my crush on him must be illegal in some way and Ray assured me the boy was just that: a boy. He'd seen him in one of the kid's films his nieces/nephews watch all the time. But I googled Shia and he is actually twenty-one. Two months older than Ray himself. So I suspect Raymond was just telling me he was young so he didn't have another young man to contend with in my lusty thoughts (he is still recovering from my barage of Harry Potter groans and moans) ;)
So, if you've got a night free: go and see The Transformers. The only bad thing about the whole film was that they didn't play the original theme song, which I remember from my childhood. But you do get a song from The Used so all is not lost ;)
